Technoir Dice Mechanics

I wanted to post something about the core mechanic for Technoir. But instead of simply using text, I thought it might make things a bit more fun if I showed you how it works. So here’s a little video demo of the game in action.

Sorry if it’s a bit shaky. Bit difficult to hold an iPhone steady while talking.

    Any news on when the public playtest will be available? You’ve whetted my appetite, and now I want more!

  2. I have said earlier that the public playtest will start in April, but I’m running out of April very quickly. Looks like it’s going to be early May.

    You should actually be able to glean a lot of the system from the protagonist sheet and the player’s guide that you can download from http://technoirrpg.com, this video, and some of the other posts here. It’s maybe enough to run the game if you ignore the Transmission and node map elements. But those are a big part of the play experience, so the playtest document should fill in those gaps when it’s made available.

    I gobbled up the protagonist sheet and player’s guide. I’m just impatient, what can I say?

  7. Hi! Just wanted to say that Technoir looks awesome! I’m setting up a forum based campaign for some of my friends who cant sit in on three/five/nine… hour sessions, so I’ll submit feedback once Ive played a bit!

  9. The game concept looks interesting, but the dice mechanic seems overly complex to me. Mechanics this complex tend to take away from my enjoyment of actual roleplay and immersion. Id like to see it made far simpler.

  10. I saw it in the new releases on drivethru and as I am such a fan of cyberpunk I had to buy it. I really like most of it and can’t wait to run my group through a few sessions. I’m hoping to run it at PAX prime but it may be coming to soon for me to really grok the system.
